Is Ukrainian separate from Russian in Slate?
Yes. Ukrainian has its own setting, as do Russian and Belarusian, and all three work live. Choose Ukrainian as the meeting language for Ukrainian speakers.
Settling in a new country?
At an office, a school meeting or an appointment of your own, a live session shows the local language as text with a Ukrainian translation (if it is one of the 60+ live languages), and the recording lets you check details later. Ask before you record; see the recording consent guide.
Video calls with family at home?
If the call is on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Webex, Slate for Mac records it without a bot joining. Keep the Ukrainian transcript, or have the summary written in the language your children read best. Slate can't record phone calls on iPhone.

Which way does live translation go?
Each live session translates into one language you pick. Choose Ukrainian to read the local language in Ukrainian, or start a session with another language as the target to translate Ukrainian into it.
