How it works

How does Slate record a call without a bot?

Slate for Mac records the call audio on your Mac itself. It doesn't join the meeting as a participant, so there's no extra name in the call and no "notetaker has joined" message. To record a call with Slate, click the Slate icon in your Mac's menu bar and choose your meeting app: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Webex. Then talk as usual. While Slate records, a live indicator shows in the menu bar, and you can follow a live transcript, plus a live translation in 60+ languages if you need one. When the call ends, stop the recording from the menu bar. Slate turns the call into a transcript with speaker labels and a summary you can ask questions about. Slate for Mac runs on macOS 14 or later, and every account gets 100 free minutes a month.
