How many languages does Slate understand?

Slate transcribes recordings in 99 languages, whether you record on iPhone, Apple Watch or Mac or import an audio or video file. In 60+ of them, Slate also transcribes and translates live: pick the language being spoken and the language you want to read, tap record, and Slate shows both, line by line, with speakers labelled. Every live language works for recordings too. Regional variants, such as British English and Swiss German, are listed under their language. Live translation runs on any iPhone with iOS 18 or later, without Apple Intelligence, and in Slate for Mac on macOS 14 or later. Slate shows the translation as text next to the original; nothing is spoken aloud. Every language is included in the free plan's 100 minutes a month. See all 99 languages and which work live
